Potterheads have something to rejoice about as the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will open very soon in Universal Studios Hollywood. This is the third Wizarding World of Harry Potter, and it will officially open on April 7.
Architectural Digest reports that the team which designed the sets for the movie were the ones who recreated the magical world of Harry Potter in the theme park.
"It was almost like another movie. We had no preconceived notions of what a theme park should be, so we approached it as taking the film sets and making them real. We wanted to create a story and a logic for everything," supervising art director Alan Gilmore shared about the theme park's design. Gilmore also worked with production designer Stuart Craig for Wizarding World of Harry Potter.
According to the Universal Studios Hollywood's official website, visitors of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter will feature the Hogwarts castle, the Hogsmeade shops, and even the fare from some of the world's establishments.
The new theme park will also introduce "pulse-pounding rides and attractions." These include Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, a 3D ride which allows visitors to see and explore the Hogwarts classrooms along with Harry Potter and friends. The other rides and attractions are Flight of the Hippogriff, Ollivanders, Frog Choir, and Triwizard Spirit Rally.
Architectural Digest also said that various technologies will be incorporated in the new Universal Studios Hollywood theme park. Some of the windows in Hogsmeade are reportedly equipped with "Wand Magic." Visitors can wave their wands to turn on a light or make a flower grow.
"I love it when design works so well that people can travel to another place and believe they're there," Gilmore concluded.
