A 65-year-old Ridgefield Park man faces charges that he and two real estate brokers used “straw borrowers” to illegally obtain “shotgun loans,” causing more than a combined $1 million in losses for at least three banks in New York and New Jersey, authorities said.

Rafael Popoteur along with Simon Curanaj, 62, of Yonkers, N.Y., and Michael Arroyo, 58, of the Bronx were charged with with conspiracy to commit bank fraud.
