The Los Angeles Clippers and the San Antonio Spurs are getting ready to face one another on the court for when they battle it out at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, Texas on Monday evening, NBA reported.
After losing to the Denver Nuggets on Saturday at 106-109 and then winning against the Milwaukee Bucks recently at 102-106, the Clippers (19-8) will most likely seize the opportunity to overtake the Spurs and their depleted roster and nab a fourth win out of their last five games.
With an average of 106.4 points per game, the team currently ranks fourth in the league, and have won their 16 of their last 18 games while surpassing more than a 100 points. While their performance is not quite disappointing overall, the Clippers' loss in away games has been of note, losing five of eight games, according to Sports Chat Place.
Coach Doc Rivers is also hard at work getting the team to work on their defense, according to NBA. The coach mentioned that since the team scores so much, he was trying to convince them on the importance of defense.
The coach is also determined to look to the match against the Spurs instead of focusing on the fact that they traveled four different time zones to play four games in five nights, according to NBA. He said the team will definitely need to find a way to keep their energy up.
The Spurs (17-11) on the other hand, have been saddled with a 4-game losing streak, their longest losing streak in more than three years, according to ESPN.
They lost against the Portland Trail Blazers at 95-108, the Memphis Grizzlies at 117-116, then the Trail Blazers again at 129-119 and most recently the Dallas Mavericks at 93-99.
The team is also facing more difficulties as Kawhi Leonard and Tony Parker are benched due to injuries. Leonard, with a torn hand ligament, ended up missing games three and five of the last seven, while Parker has a sore hamstring and sat out five straight games and eight of their last nine.
Tim Duncan and Manu Ginobili have also been benched momentarily after playing heavy minutes against Memphis last Wednesday and Portland last Friday, which ended with the team facing back-to-back losses.
Overall, the Spurs are noticeably struggling on the defensive end, according to Sports Chat Palace. They will need to find a way to turn things around given their ailing roster and hopefully not lose out another game on their own home court.
The game is available for livestreaming at NBA Stream, Stream 2 U or U Stream, or catch the game on television on Fox Sports at 8:30 p.m.
