After two action-packed installments, Taken is finally about to end. Aptly subtitled, "It Ends Here," the movie series is coming to theaters and once again promises to keep fans on the edge of their seats in suspense. But this time Liam Neeson's character, Bryan Mills, takes the hit.
While the first two movies of "Taken" dealt with an attack on Mills' loved ones, the threat in this third movie comes to him as he is framed for a murder he did not commit. According to Celebeat, Mills and his ex-wife Leonore would be briefly reunited in the upcoming movie but his wife would be brutally killed even before they finalize their reconciliation.
The perpetrators would frame Mills for the crime and the ex-CIA agent would then spend the rest of the movie looking for the real killers. Actress Famke Janssen returns for the third time as Mills' wife.
The movie will also see Maggie Grace reprise her role as Kim, Bryan and Leonore's daughter, who is already studying in UCLA. In pursuit of the killers, Bryan would meet Kim in the college's locker room to tell her what happened while the police tried to catch him. The movie would see Bryan use "particular set of skills" the viewers have seen him use in the first two movies of the series.
As a special promotion for the movie, 20th Century Fox has partnered with LinkedIn, a networking site for professionals, for a contest, said Marketing Land. Media firm Trailer Park has created a video of Neeson who introduced himself as Bryan Mills.
He then went on to inform the viewers of "particular set of skills" he and his colleague have garnered from years of hands-on experience. He proceeded to enlist his own set of skills which included, "transportation logistics, contract negotiation and international relations among others," and after which told his viewers that he is in need of another professional.
His next instructions redirected viewers to a LinkedIn Page. He told them to "follow the instructions exactly." The new link contained the movie's contest, in which the winner would get an endorsement from Neeson, lauding the person's skill sets.
Aside from the marketing strategy with LinkedIn, the film's distributor has also worked closely with popular social network Facebook for a dedicated page where fans can upload their photos and would be given a beat-up look. Meanwhile, independent keyboard application Riffsy has made numerous animated gifs from the movie, which fans could access and upload via the application.
"Taken 3" hits theaters on Jan. 9, 2015.
