CyanogenMod Installer Download Available for Nexus 9; What to Expect?

The Google Nexus 9 has proven to be an efficient tablet for its users. It was created to originally run on the Android Vanilla. However, it has offered another update option apart from the Android Lollipop 5.0.2.

WCCFTech says that CyanogenMod 12 Nightlies was recently officially released for the Nexus 9. The CyanogenMod 12, unlike its predecessor, the CyanogenMod 11, is actually based on the Android 5.0 Lollipop. This means that users will still be getting Material Design as well as the other benefits that come with Google's latest official release, according to 9to5 Google.

Moreover, WCCFTech reported that the beta streams are often used to substitute ROM manufacturers. With that said, it must be noted that the CyanogenMod 12 Nightlies for the Nexus 9 is still in its early stages which could only mean that it might not run as perfectly as hoped.

After all, it is still in its "nightly" build as of now. This is proof that it is pretty much still a work in progress and is highly likely to have quite a few bugs that could end up making certain features unusable, as reported by Techno Buffalo.

Fortunately, Nexus devices are capable of detecting such problem. If something goes wrong by any chance, switching back to the unit's stock Android will not be a problem. There will be absolutely no trouble in installing it. However, one huge reminder for those who might consider trying the Cyanogen Mod 12 Nightlies would be to make sure that data were transferred to a back up storage.

Since the CM 12 was made on similar bases with that of the Android Lollipop, users can expect no drastic overhaul. However, one very significant suggestion for Nexus 9 users planning to switch to the CM 12 is to make sure to have an unlocked boot loader as well as a system recovery to complete the process. Otherwise, the data that have not been backed up will be lost.

Techno Buffalo is pretty confident that stable versions of the CyanogenMod 12 for the Nexus 9 will be available very soon. The nightly option was only created for Nexus 9 users who can no longer wait to get the CyanogenMod and do not mind running pre-release software. Plus, Uber Gizmo says that they are absolutely free.

A download link for the software was provided on 9to5 Google. The release was named "Flounder," which is reportedly the code name for the Nexus 9 unit.
