Fans of the video game "Grand Theft Auto" have been waiting for an update on its sixth release for the longest time. It seems that an old favorite is set to return to the popular game as rumors indicate that a female character would take the lead on the upcoming "GTA 6."
Rockstar Games President Leslie Benzies revealed that it is taking a long time for the sixth installment to come out because of the numerous ideas they have planned for it, said Latino Post.
"We've got about 45 years worth of ideas we want to do. We don't know what GTA 6 will be, but we've got some ideas," Benzies shared.
Speculations on where the game would be set next have circulated early 2015 with some even naming Portland, Oregon or Houston, Texas as the most probable options, noted Inquistr.
In a statement by Benzies, he detailed that the location plays a big part in the possible mission and activities in the upcoming "GTA 6."
"Where it is going to be set is the first question. Then that defines the missions; you're doing different things in L.A. than in New York or Miami. Of course at some point we would like to have one big world containing all our cities and let the player fly between them and revisit their favorite areas," he remarked
However, no announcement has been made on where the company plans to take the next video game and it remains to be seen if any of the speculations would be proven right.
Meanwhile, some fans are looking forward to the introduction of a new character.
According to Trusted Reviews, many have been clamoring for a female protagonist to make things more exciting in the "GTA" world.
The last time the game had a female lead was in "GTA 3, when Catalina was introduced.
Dan Houser, co-founder of Rockstar Games, told Insquisitr that a woman lead is among the considerations of the development team.
"In the future, could we do a game with a female lead character? Of course. We just haven't figured the right game for it yet, but it's one of the things we always talk about," he revealed.
The game is reportedly coming out early 2017.
