Fans who miss the Barden Bellas acapella vocals need not wait any longer. The sequel to the popular musical movie, "Pitch Perfect" is coming this 2015. A new trailer that has been released showed the movie packed with amazing covers of songs by Miley Cyrus and Beyonce.
While not much has been said about the plot of the upcoming musical movie, the new trailer offered a glimpse of the adventures the acapella group would be facing in "Pitch Perfect 2."
The more than two-minute video clip showed the group about to perform in front of elite visitors to celebrate the U.S. President's birthday. Rebel Wilson's character, Fat Amy, enters the scene while hanging on what seemed to be a cloth swing as she sings the first lines of Miley Cyrus' "Wrecking Ball."
A problem with the prop turned the performance into a flop, which caused Fat Amy a wardrobe malfunction. The messed up performed caused embarrassment to the group and its suspension from the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella (ICCA), shared US Magazine.
The group's adventures seem to stem from their desire to get back in ICCA as they were seen battling it out with the vocals of the new rivals from Europe. The clip ends with the Barden Bellas doing a blood-pumping rendition of Beyonce's "Run The World (Girls)," a fitting song to the all-female group.
Anna Kendrick, Rebel Wilson, Anna Camp, Brittany Snow, Adam DeVine, and Skylar Astin would return to reprise their roles in this sequel to the hit-musical film released in 2012, reported Hollywood Life.
Newcomers Katey Segal and Hailee Steinfeld from "True Grit" would also join the cast, noted Cinema Blend.
Elizabeth Banks, who played a commentator in the first movie and produced it as well, is back on board for another small role, said Screen Rant. Aside from her character, the actress has also taken on another role in this sequel as a co-director.
As the movie is known for its musical influences, it is no surprise that "Pitch Perfect 2" would feature musical talents known for their acappella style. Banks revealed that among those who would appear in the film are popular acappella groups Filharmonic, Pentatonix, and Penn Masala.
Banks said, "It's all about authenticity in the a capella world. We really want to honor that and honor the people who are really doing it out there who we're inspired by when we make the movie."
"Pitch Perfect 2" is coming to theaters on May 2, 2015.
