Game developer NetherRealm has confirmed that its female fighters will be getting an update. According to GameSpot, the figures of the characters will be tweaked to have more realistically proportioned.
"The mantra for this game has always been realism; heading towards a more realistic look," said NetherRealm's production manager Spiro Anagnostakos, as quoted by the site. "So the same thing applies to the proportions where we try to bring things back in per se to where they should be."
The aim to make the women in the game look "more like women do" said another another developer on the team. To which, Anagnostakos replied, "Exactly."
To display the direction the production team is making, they revealed the character image of new fighter Kitana. It can be seen that unlike earlier characters, Kitana's new profile is one that doesn't have overly exaggerated features.
Character News
In other news, the "Mortal Kombat X" game is believed to see the return of classic fighters like Kitana, Ermac and Reptile. However, in a new report by IGN, it seems two more classic characters are going to be included.
In a new Brazilian video released Monday, we may be seeing Sonya Blade and Jax according to references by Cassie Cage, rock star lending her voice to Cassie.
Saying the phrase, "Stay away from my mother," basically confirms Sonya's appearance as Cassie is the daughter of Johnny Cage and Sonya Blade.
Additionally, in the video, she also says, "'Are you ok, Uncle Jax? Your joints are cracking,' presumably speaking to the cybernetically-enhanced metal-armed soldier."
However, Jax and Sonya Blade are not seen in any footage of the video.
NetherRealm has not confirmed the characters but there has been no indication that rules out the possibility that they may be seen in the upcoming game. As it stands, "Mortal Kombat X" has 14 confirmed "kombatants" which include, Scorpion, Sub-Zero, Cassie Cage, D'Vorah, Kotal Kahn, Ferra & Torr, Raiden, Kano, Reptile, Kitana, Kung Lao, Quan Chi, Goro and Ermac.
It has been confirmed by NetherRealm that Jade will not be a fighter in the new game.
The "Mortal Kombat X" game is set for release date on April 14. Gamers can expect it to be available in the following versions, PC, Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
