Tiger Woods was spotted supporting his girlfriend Lindsey Vonn in the 2015 FIS Alpine Skiing World Championships on Wednesday and Beaver Creek, fueling more speculation about their relationship.
The New York Daily News reported that recent rumors suggested that Woods and Vonn are planning to get married soon. According to Nathaniel Vinton, there is also a possibility that the two sports superstars will tie the knot on Valentine's Day Saturday.
"Woods and Vonn have become a megawatt sports celebrity pairing in recent years, and in Colorado the last two weeks there has been a persistent rumor that their marriage is imminent, perhaps even on Valentine's Day," Vinton wrote. "The women's slalom is scheduled for Saturday - and Vonn is not expected to enter."
Vonn and Woods have been dating since March 2013 after the golf superstar divorced ex-wife Elin Nordegren. Since letting the public aware of their relationship, the two superstars have been experiencing ups-and-downs in their respective careers.
Vonn, a former Olympic downhill champion, suffered a torn ACL in her right knee in the 2013 World Championship. She tried to make a comeback late that year, but sustained an injury again and underwent a second major knee surgery, which forced her to skip her title defense at the 2014 Sochi Olympics.
The 30-year-old skier then made a strong comeback late last year in the World Cup and became the most successful World Cup skier of all time after recording his 63rd World Cup victory, breaking the long-standing record of Annemarie Moser-Proell, who tallied 62 World Cup victories in her career.
However, Vonn has yet to win a gold medal in the ongoing World Championships in Beaver Creek. She won a bronze in Super-G, but finished 27th in 1st run of the giant slalom race on Wednesday.
On the other hand, Woods' career is also on a downward spiral at this point. The former world No. 1 was slowed down by an ailing back last year. He tried to return late last year, but failed to live up to expectations.
On Wednesday, Woods announced that he will take a break from golf after suffering another back injury. The injury is not related to the surgery he underwent last year, but Woods insisted that he will not play again until he is 100 percent ready to compete.
"I need a lot of work on my game, and to still spend time with the people that are important to me," Woods said in a statement posted on his official website. "My plays, and scores, are not acceptable for tournament golf. Like I've said, I enter a tournament to compete at the highest level, and when I think I'm ready, I'll be back."
