Following the massive success of Microsoft with its Surface Pro 3, the next-gen device expected to be released in 2015 may be hitting the shelves soon.
According to a new report by TheAir Herald, the highly-anticipated laplet could be released much sooner than the public expected.
2015 Release Date
Noting the recent move by Microsoft to lower the prices of the Surface Pro 3, this is a big indication of an upcoming new device. The site notes that the entire Pro 3 line has been reduced in price by nearly $100.
There are a number of rumors regarding the specs of the upcoming Pro but one of the biggest questions on the mind of consumers is when the device will be made available.
Based on a tip from 4Chan (via KDramaStarz), the Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is going to be released in July of this year. Microsoft is said to be planning to launch the 4th edition during the GDC 2015.
"Microsoft is looking into putting out the Surface Pro 4 on July 2015. My sources say that Microsoft will reveal it on GDC and they will use that and a gaming PC plus an Xbox to show how powerful Windows 10 and DX12 is" said the post of the insider.
Two-Model Microsoft Surface Pro 4
A number of reports have claimed that similar to Apple's move for the iPhone 6 line, Microsoft is looking to make a two-model release for the Surface Pro 4. However, with the changes that the firm is making, especially with the new Windows 10, a two-edition release makes perfect sense.
As it stands the Surface Pro 3 clocks in at 12-inches and the two models would play with about two or so inches smaller and larger than the existing model.
"Now that Microsoft has given out more information about Windows 10, specifically the UI and how it will act with devices of various sizes, it makes more sense that Microsoft would release two different editions of the Surface Pro 4. One device would be around eight inches, while the other could be anywhere from 12 to 13 or 14 inches," wrote TheAir Herald.
For those who are eyeing the gadget and aren't particular with having the latest device and are looking to get a new tablet at a great price, this may be the best time to purchase the Surface Pro 3. The device which is similar to the Pro 2 line but carries some significant upgrades is a pretty powerful product.
With no official prices revealed, The Telegraph estimates that the Surface Pro 4 could cost between $799 to $1,549 depending on the specs.
