'Fifty Shades of Grey' Sequel Not Happening? Taylor-Johnson Clash With James [Rumors]

E.L. James' "Fifty Shades of Grey" has been beset with intrigues ever since word came out that it would be adapted to the big screen. Now, it seems that the highly controversial movie trilogy would not even see a sequel because of the clash between its director and author.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, movie director Sam Taylor-Johnson admitted that filming the movie was a challenge as she encountered numerous conflicts with the famous author.

"We'd often clash and have to find a way to work through that to get some sort of resolution," shared the director.

She added that, "She would be the first to say as well that it was not easy. It was not easy. But we got there. I think that both of us felt it was an incredibly painful process."

According to the "Nowhere Boy" director, James was very "protective" of her story and was not hesitant in letting the director and production team know it.

It was reported that James had been pushing for more straightforward sex scenes to make the movie more faithful to her book. However, the 47-year old director wanted a more muted approach to the movie. Evidently, the differences in their opinions caused clashes between them.

A source close to the matter noted that the 51-year old author, who has no previous experience in filming, could not "grasp that in all adaptations, some things need to change."

The insider also added that the author's dominant attitude showed in the way that she would not "allow herself to be rewritten, even if it's 'and' or 'but.'"

During the movie's premiere on Feb. 12, Taylor-Johnson noted that while it was difficult to clash with the author, the entire process was expected to bring out the best for the movie, reported Digital Spy.

"It was hard in places. But any creative process they're going to have disagreements between all sorts of people but we got there in the end and I think the fans will be really pleased," said the director.

Taylor-Johnson added that, "It was difficult, I'm not going to lie. We definitely fought but they were creative fights and we would resolve them."

In spite of the issues they encountered during filming, it appears that the two got along well after that as The Mirror reported that Taylor-Johnson would once again work with James for the movie's sequel.

"I'm signed on. Let's see how this one goes first," said the director.
