'Game of Thrones' Season 5: George RR Martin Teases 'Surprising Death' Details, Lena Headey Pregnant & More

HBO's "Game of Thrones" is a series known for a lot of death and according to "A Song of Ice and Fire" writer George R.R. Martin, the series' fifth season isn't going to be any different.

During the Writers Guild of America Awards on Saturday, the famous author said that the episodes of season 5 are going to shock everyone, reported Showbiz411.

"People are going to die who don't die in the books, so even the book readers will be unhappy. So everybody better be on their toes. David and D.B. (David Benioff and D.B. Weiss co-creators of 'Game Of Thrones) are even bloodier than I am," warned Martin about the upcoming season.

The news comes after actress Sophie Turner, 18, has said there will be jaw-dropping events in "Game of Thrones" including a "traumatic" experience for Sansa, reported the Huffington Post.

"There's some massive moments, perhaps even more shocking than the Red Wedding type of thing. There's like a lot going on this season," revealed the show actress with the role of Sansa Stark. "There's also, you know, a lot of blood, a lot of death. And a lot of people kind of come far. And there are a few familiar faces around as well," teased the actress without giving too much detail.

Lena Headey Pregnant

After much speculation, "Game of Thrones" actress Lena Headey has confirmed she's pregnant with her second child.

"I'm happy to confirm that I'm having my second child this summer," said the 41-year-old actress to People. "I only hope that this announcement can help me to regain some of the privacy I have recently lost to prying photographers and ask that they please respect my privacy and let me enjoy this time."

Headey has a nearly 5-year-old son, Wylie, from a previous marriage with musician Peter Loughran that ended in 2013.

As it stands, it's unclear how Headey's baby news will affect her character's appearance on the show.

More Seasons Expected?

Aside from getting everyone excited abut what could be in store for "Game of Thrones" season 5, Martin also spoke about the number of seasons we can expect from the much-loved TV show.

" Not really certain yet. This is the fifth season, the sixth season HBO picked up last year. We will have a 7th, 8th or 9th, no one knows," said Martin (via Showbiz411) who continued, "They only renew one or two seasons at a time. After we do season 6, maybe we'll get a renewal for 7th and 8th. That all depends, Television is a very changeable medium."

"Game of Thrones" season 5 is set to premiere on April 12.
