‘Wolverine 3’ Release Date & Cast: Plot Leaked? Hugh Jackman Wants to Join MCU!

Hugh Jackman will be officially returning to the big screen to reprise his lead role in "Wolverine 3." Screen Rant says that he is hopeful that the "X-Men: Apocalypse" and his upcoming blockbuster will be filming back-to-back, while another report hints that the former's story might lead directly into the storyline of the third installment of "Wolverine."

Jackman appears to be open to the idea of exploring more options for the Marvel Cinematic Universe. He recently spoke with MTV, as shown on YouTube, about his hopes for yet another superhero crossover. He was pretty optimistic that his sole feature franchise would team up with The Avengers in a huge movie in the future.

"I like to think there's that possibility for all of it, and I would even like to think more that it doesn't happen out of necessity," Jackman said. "I optimistically love the idea of, 'What the hell, Batman vs. Iron Man vs. Wolverine!' Let's just chuck 'em in. But, hey, it's not my billions of dollars behind this promise."

With Spider-Man about to team up with the rest of The Avengers on the big screen, Jackman felt inspired to share his views on a possible collaboration with the cast of "The Avengers" franchise himself, according to Hit Fix.

"There is a lot of, sort of, behind-the-scenes things going on," he said. "Who will pay for this? Who will pay for that? Who is going to get properties? Who is going to get value out of what?"

"I love that essence of comic books where, on a Friday night, Chris Claremont can be having a beer with Stan Lee, and he can go, 'I dunno. Let's say Batman fight Wolverine, who is sort of having an affair with Jean Grey,'" Jackman added. "And then, by Monday morning, they are making it. I like that freedom. I think that's what comic book love is like."

Additionally, according to Movie Web, Professor X, played by Patrick Stewart, will be featured heavily in the upcoming "Wolverine 3." Jackman tried to keep everything under wraps by attempting to dodge the question on whether the previous reports were true.

"I'm not going to deny that he's not," he hinted. "Let's just say, I'd be thrilled if he was part of it because I think that relationship is key. It's one of the keys. It was the key at the beginning and I think there's a long way to go."

They are still reportedly far from the end, but Jackman revealed that they are "in really good shape with it," according to Examiner. "I'm really, really excited about it," he expressed. One of the things that he is excited about for "Wolverine 3" is that the story will happen in a very unique timeline, says Movie Web.

"It does draw on some comic book stuff," Jackman added. "There are some things, but in typical fashion, sort of one main one with a few bits here and there and then opening it up. James Mangold and I, we've been talking about it, he has a treatment."
