With the ninth season of "Doctor Who" confirmed to return this autumn on BBC is currently filming the episodes. The series that stars Peter Capaldi as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara has got some exciting things in store for fans.
According to an earlier comment by showrunner Steven Moffat (via Doctor Who Extra), the production insider says he's aware of the general idea behind the upcoming season.
"I know what [Season 9's] arc is, I know where we're going, I know what's going to happen in broad terms throughout the show," Moffat teased, quotes the site. "It's feeling very exciting!"
In a summary by CultBox UK, there's an interesting mix of writers who have developed quite the plot, says Moffat.
"We've got some other stuff lined up from other writers - some new, some old, some middle-aged ... I'm pretty excited. We've got some very, very good stuff coming," said the showrunner.
He also commented on the relationship that the Doctor and his companion will take. In December, Moffat teased about the dangers of the relationship. "We took the Doctor/companion relationship to a place that's just more real in [Season 8], much more damaging and with more consequences. And whoever the companion is [in Season 9], you want to continue that idea."
Capaldi and Coleman are joined by "Game of Thrones" actor Paul Kaye who will be part of the "cast in the first production block that includes episodes 3 and 4," reported the Franchise Herald.
The site noted that the announcement was made by BBC (as revealed by Moffat): "Peter Capaldi and Jenna Coleman are back in Cardiff, back in the box, and back in action-for one of our scariest adventures yet!"
Unlike the previous seasons, fans are pleased to know that there will be now "Doctor Who" season 9 mid-season break, "We're not going to do splits [in Season 8], and the same format will repeat exactly [for Season 9] the following year [2015] like that. So it will be the traditional form," said Moffat as reported by Den of Greek (via Franchise Herald).
There is no exact date regarding the premiere of the new season titled, "The Magician's Apprentice." No details including an episode synopsis has been unveiled.
