HTC One M9 Release Date & Specs: New Flagship Arriving Before MWC 2015? [Rumors]

Taiwanese tech firm HTC surprised everyone when it revealed that its next flagship phone will be unveiled before the Mobile World Congress 2015 event in Barcelona and not during the expo.

According to Master Herald, the company sent out invites to its presser event on March 1 ahead of the MWC opening where it would launch its next-gen phone, the HTC One M9.

The company has begun marketing for its March 1 event as early as Feb. It dropped a series of hints and clues on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, which made many fans excited for its upcoming device.

In a report by Slash Gear, an update was posted on the UK Twitter handle of the company saying, "the new One is coming, and it'll be here March 1."

This led many to think that the press event on the said date would see the unveiling of the new HTC One M9, also known as the HTC One Hima.

Meanwhile, what further notified fans of the arrival of the HTC One M8's successor is a series of price cuts on its previous model.

IB Times said that the company offered a great deal after Valentine's Day on its M8 units available in their online store. The current flagship phone out in the market is now sold at $500 per unit, which is less than $150 compared with its original price.

The company also offered discounted rates for the unit's casings by Dot View and Double Dip.

Meanwhile, BGR said that the event presser could possibly launch a different handset from the expected M9. It reported that based from @upleaks, the Taiwanese company would instead unveil the HTC One M8i, a unit better than the previously launched M8 but slightly lower in specs than the M9.

The upcoming HTC One M9 is reportedly outfitted with a five-inch FHD Display, same as its predecessor in size but with better quality, said IB Times. The new unit would have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor at 2.0 GHz, 3 GB RAM, and 32 or 64 GB internal memory options.

Those who love taking pictures would enjoy the 20.7MP rear camera paired with a Dual LED flash, while selfie addicts would enjoy the 4MP Ultra Pixel front camera.

The HTC One M9 would also support VoLTE and LTE Category 6 and would have Boom Sound speakers for better music quality. Other rumors claim that the upcoming device would be available in three colors of gray, silver, and gold.
