'X-Men: Apocalypse' Release Date, Cast & Trailer: New Actor in Talks For Major Role [Rumors]

British Actor Ben Hardy is reportedly in talks to appear in the upcoming major blockbuster, "X-Men: Apocalypse."

In a new article by The Wrap, a number of sources have revealed that the "EastEnders" actor is believed to be discussing plans to appear in the film as an unknown character.

The site further reported that Hardy, 24, was one of the stars originally eyed for the role of Cyclops -- confirmed to be played by Tye Sheridan -- and earlier rumors also suggested he's been cast as Angel. However, The Wrap indicated that he has "been cast in another important role that is being kept under wraps."

Should the rumored talks pan out, Ben will star alongside a celebrity-studded cast that includes the likes of James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Michael Fassbender. New cast additions Sheridan, Sophie Turner and Alexandra Shipp were cast as Cyclops, Jean Grey, and Storm, respectively.

The sequel to "X-Men: Days of Future Past" is a highly anticipated film. Entertainment Weekly reported earlier that "Days of Future Past" provides clues to the plot of "X-Men: Apocalypse."

"You won't feel at the end of the movie that it set up Apocalypse. What it does is it sets up possibilities. But what we'll discover in Apocalypse is that events in this movie made that happen," said director Bryan Singer.

He continued to add, "Apocalypse deals with ancient mutancy. What would humans have thought mutants were? What would mutants think humans were? You're dealing with gods and things like that. And what if one survived and what if that found its way into our world?"

Hardy is best known for playing the role of Peter Beale in "EastEnders," a long-time running BBC soap opera. The role rocketed Ben to fame and during an earlier interview (via Mail Online), the actor admits he has struggled to c ope with the attention.

"I didn't realise the impact it would have on my life,' says Ben. 'The show is so popular that lots of people approach you and ask for photos. Everyone's lovely, but sometimes if you'd rather be on your own it's the last thing you want to do."

"X-Men Apocalypse" is due for release May 27, 2016. The film will begin shooting in April and to date no trailer or promotional posters have been released.
