'Avengers 2: Age of Ultron' Trailer, Cast & Release Date: New Poster Revealed, Falcon, Carter & Heimdall Appearing

A new poster for upcoming film "Avengers: Age of Ultron" has confirmed more Marvel cast and characters. On Tuesday, a new promotional material was released through Twitter.

While the actors themselves don't appear in the image along with the lead "Avengers" heroes, Hayley Atwell (Agent Peggy Carter), Idris Elba (Heimdall) and Anthony Mackie (Falcon) have all been listed in the image's credit roll, reports SlashFilm.

Mackie first appeared in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) as the Falcon in "Captain America: Winter Soldier" while Elba has taken on the role of Heimdall in two "Thor" Movies. The third star, Atwell is recognizable as Peggy Carter both "Captain America' films.

There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the appearance of the three characters. Elba doesn't come as a surprise following his earlier slip that he'll be appearing in the role, recalls ComicBook.com. Mackie, on the other hand, is rumored to become an Avenger and considering his continued role in the "Captain America" series and how "The Winder Soldier" ended, Mackie is also somewhat expected.

Relatedly, Anthony has previously teased his interest in appearing in the film. Per The Hollywood Reporter, Mackie admitted to IamRogue.com he wanted to be in more Marvel films.

"I hope. At this point, I have not. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope. They're doing reshoots and that's why I'm letting them know I'm available. So whatever weekend they want me there, I'll fly myself out and shoot whatever scene they want me in. Even if it's like, 'Oh man! It's Iron Man and Hulk.," commented Mackie on rumors he'd be in "Avengers: Age of Ultron."

The bigger surprise is Agent Carter, notes ComicBook.com. "Atwell was previously confirmed as reprising her role as Agent Peggy Carter for a flashback scene in Ant-Man, but her addition to Avengers: Age of Ultron was previously unknown. Whether she will appear in a flashback scene, or if this confirms certain fan theories about time travel in Avengers: Age of Ultron, remains to be seen," noted the website.

According to Marvel, "Avengers: Age of Ultron" is "the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth's Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure."

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" lands in theaters May 1.
