Fans excited for the latest smartphone from Samsung would now have to wait for just a short while. The Korean tech giant released official photos of its new flagship phone, the Samsung Galaxy S6, which would be unveiled at the Mobile World Congress 2015.
Even before the company announced the Samsung Galaxy S6 is in the works, numerous rumors circulated online regarding possible specifications and features. While not all those reported are true, it seemed that the rumor on a new body for the unit would see the light of day.
It seems that the Korean company finally took into account the suggestions of their consumers. According to Master Herald, the newest Galaxy S phone of Samsung would feature a metallic body design.
In the past, the company received a lot of flak for the plastic body design of their units. For some users, the plastic feel on the device's body gives the mobile unit a cheap feel as opposed to the metal bodies donned by its rival iPhone, noted CNET.
Aside from the metal back, the new S6 would also come in two screen designs. One would be the usual front-facing display while the second one, under the "Edge" line of the company, would feature curved screens.
Some reports noted that the new curved display would be found on one side only while some insist that it would be curved on both sides. No confirmation was made on whether the device will be curved on both sides, but the photo shared by Samsung Mobile on its Twitter features a curved edge.
However, the company would retain the Super AMOLED screen for its display. A report on Tech Radar said that the new phone would instead get a resolution upgrade to QHD 1440 x 2560 display.
It could also be a bit bigger in size than its predecessor, which would put the size of the new phone at around 5.2 to 5.3 of display.
The camera of the next-gen unit might also be increased to 20MP to shoot better photos.
For the operating system, the new S6 would be installed with Android 5.0 software and nothing lower. Another report also noted that the company would now allow some of its pre-installed apps to be deleted if unused, unlike in previous devices.
Meanwhile, Samsung reportedly decided to use their own design with this new phone despite rumors of a Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. Hence, the new S6 would instead utilize the Exynos chipset.
The new Samsung Galaxy S6 would be unveiled at the MWC 2015 in Barcelona in March. The units would be available on retailers and Samsung stores by the last week of March or early April.
