'Parks and Recreation' Finale Recap & Highlights: Top 3 Things You Need to Know

Last night, after a seven-season run, "Parks and Recreation" aired its series finale and what loyal fans can take away from this sad moment is that everyone in the series is going to be alright.

Titled, "One Last Ride," the series ender gave fans an insight via the fast-forward of how everyone will essential "land on their feet," reviewed IGN.

Based on the assessment of the publication, this was a great way to end the series because it gave fans what they needed the most, "The writers knew It wasn't enough to just send everyone off into the future. They knew we needed to see that future. Not just for peace of mind, but because we've all become so lovingly invested in the characters. This final season proved to us that we could withstand a time jump and still remain attached to everyone. And this finale used that to hop through the Pawnee gang's futures, creating an exciting, heartwarming journey."

Outside of the plot, here are five things about the finale you need to know:

  1. "Guardians of the Galaxy" - The show did a subtle tribute to the big movie star that Chris Pratt (Andy Dwyer) has become. In a scene from Andy and April's future home, one of the kids who did trick or treat at the house was dressed as Star-Lord, Pratt's Marvel character, noted Time.
  2. Late Night With Seth Meyers - Following the airing of the series finale, the cast of "Parks and Recreation" dropped by Meyers' one-year anniversary show to celebrate with the evening talk show host. They revealed the cast and crew cried numerous times throughout production and spoke about their characters. Entertainment Weekly reports that the highlight of the cast appearance was when the cast sang "Bye, Bye, Lil Sebastian" with lighters waving and tears in their eyes.
  3. "Six Feet Under" finale - According to the Marvel superhero, Pratt confessed he had a different idea for the series ender. Speaking to Seth Meyers, Rolling Stone writes that the actor wanted an ending like "Six Feet Under." During the talk with Meyers, series co-creator Michael Schur revealed that Pratt suggested that that a line be said abut how each character eventually dies, "like the Six Feet Under finale." Pratt added, "When you saw April, it would be that she died of a broken heart." With regards to his character, "And then you would see that Andy died because he was left in a hot car with the windows rolled up," he continued.
