Samsung's newest flagship smartphone is expected to launch at the Mobile World Congress 2015 taking place 2-5 March in Barcelona Spain. Now, new image leaks suggest the highly-anticipated device looks like its rival, the iPhone.
According to Cult of Mac, new image leaks sourced from XDA developer forums suggest that the newest Galaxy S phone looks a lot like Apple's newest smartphone, the iPhone 6.
While it's widely known that Samsung has undergone a redesign (Project Zero) for their flagship series and the alleged photos indicate the new phone has been given a massive facelift and looks a lot like Apple's devices.
The XDA forum member who shared the photo detailed the the device was sourced from AT&T. However, the site notes the image could be a prototype with a more polished device hitting the shelves.
"Can't say where it's from but it's from AT&T directly. Obviously a prototype or test model and it says not for sale on the package. Obviously a Samsung phone, I was scared to play with it much but seems a glass back and front with metal on the sides," wrote the leak source.
The photos shared online indicate that we could be seeing a Samsung Galaxy S6 outfitted with rounded edges, a metal frame as well as a bottom that looks exactly like the iPhone 6. The only difference in the bottom design being the type of charger socket and number and division of speaker holes. As can be seen in the images, the iPhone 6 has one row of 6 speaker holes in the bottom but the supposed Galaxy S6 will have two rows of 5.
COM also notes that "The antenna joints were also moved to the middle, and the ambient mic sensor is thrown in between the speaker and mini-USB because it'd look uglier more Samsung-y than the iPhone."
According to Gotta Be Mobile, the leaked photos are somewhat consistent to the rumors that have been circulating about the anticipated Galaxy S6.
In addition to the frame and bottom, while the front and back of the device retain a Samsung-look, the site reports that the alleged prototype shows "a new rounded home button" that's believed to be Samsung's attempt at increasing the effectiveness and functionality of its touch-based fingerprint sensor, much like Apple Touch ID technology.
Lastly, there are rumors that like the Galaxy Note 4, the Galaxy S6 will launch with an Edge variant. The photos don't show a curved device but it could be that the leak source was only able to get their hands on the regular model of the Galaxy S6.
While no official specs or pricing has been provided, new reports indicate that the new phones could range from $850 to as high as $1,200.
