Fans of the British Secret Service agent James Bond would be excited to learn that Agent 007 is back in location to finish the 24th film on its franchise. Reports revealed that Daniel Craig is in Italy along with a new Bond leading lady to shoot "Spectre."
According to Master Herald, many Italian fans of the English agent films have been assembling on shooting locations to see Craig in action. Joining Craig on filming is 50-year-old Italian actress, Monica Bellucci, who will play the lead woman and love interest of the English actor.
This is the seventh time the English movie would return to Italy to shoot scenes for the film. Among the top locations featured in the upcoming film is the Corso Vittorio Emanuele II. This thoroughfare is a street that passes across all Rome.
The street would be featured in a car chase scene in the movie, which would include Bond's famous Aston Martin in silver.
Meanwhile, the producers seem to be making a statement in casting a 50-year-old actress as a Bond girl for the first time. Previous Agent 007 movies featured young actresses opposite the British secret agent.
However, the former model is no stranger to acting as Bellucci starred in many Italian movies since 1990s.
When Bellucci received a call from director Sam Mendes of "Spectre," the actress initially thought she was being approached as a replacement for Dame Judi Dench, reported Yahoo.
The actress revealed, "My first thought was, 'How can I be a Bond girl at 50?'" However, Mendes reportedly assured her and said, "For the first time in history, James Bond is going to have a story with a mature woman."
The Italian was happy to join the cast and said to the director, "I told Sam he would be a hero among women for casting me in 'Spectre.'"
The oldest woman to be casted in a James Bond film was Honor Blackman, who played Pussy Galore, in Sean Connery's 'Goldeneye.'
Blackman was 39 years old then, said Gulf News.
Bellucci knew that her joining the cast would be a surprise to many.
"Many 50-year old women feel invisible to me, but it doesn't have to be that way. What is the problem with a man of 30 being with a woman of 50? It is a matter of energy and the soul, not a matter of age of the body," said the actress.
She also added, "True sexiness is in the mind, the imagination - not in the age of the body. It doesn't surprise me that men in their 20s and 30s are often looking for a much older woman."
