FX's horror anthology series, "American Horror Story," just keeps getting better at keeping their fans on their toes. Even before the fifth season comes out this year, the hit TV show has already one surprise up its sleeve with the casting of a rather very unexpected artist. Word is out that Lady Gaga was casted to join the series.
According to IGN, the "Born This Way" singer was asked to join the series as a replacement to Jessica Lange, who starred in the past four seasons of "American Horror Story."
The Grammy Awards winner confirmed her participation in the popular series via a post on her social networking profile on Twitter, reported Mirror.
The newly engaged artist uploaded a teaser video of herself along with the caption, "Make your reservation now. #GagaAHSHotel."
The short clip showed singer-turned-actress as she said to the screen, "American Horror Story season five," before removing her mask to conclude the sentence with a whisper, "Hotel."
It remains unclear what role Gaga would play in the upcoming season called, "AHS: Hotel." The creators and producers of the show have not issued any statement whether she would take over the role Lange would leave in the series.
The multi-awarded actress expressed her desire to leave the show before the beginning of the fourth season, said E! News. While it was not confirmed at that time, a tweet from series creator Ryan Murphy on Jan. 2015 seemed to verify the news as he extended his thanks to the 65-year-old actress.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the songwriter would be a regular in the show created by Murphy. This is the first major acting gig of Gaga, who had small roles in the 2013 movie "Machete Kills" and "Sin City: A Dame To Kill For," that came out in 2014.
While the singer may not have much acting experience under her belt, Robert Rodriguez, who directed "Machete Kills," praised Gaga for her acting in the movie. The director further added, "The camera loves her. She's a great performer. She's performed twice for me now and I was blown away by her discipline."
Meanwhile, "AHS: Hotel" would mark the second time Gaga would work with Ryan Murphy. The two collaborated when the "Glee" co-creator used songs of the singer in a tribute episode of the musical dramedy in 2010.
Season 5 of the "American Horror Story" is set for release on October 2015, said The Hollywood Reporter.
