Android users are eagerly awaiting the roll out of the Android 5.0 Lollipop as well as the newer and highly-anticipated Android 5.1 Lollipop.
Recalling an earlier report by AndroidPit a few weeks back, the Android 5.1 was believed to be due out in "early 2015." As the month of February ends and we enter the last month of the year's 1st quarter, how long will it be till we see the OS update?
Various sources have already reported a sighting of the Lollipop update on Android One and Nexus devices in Indonesia and the Philippines.
Consistent with the early 2015 estimate, a Tweet from Mo Versi (HTC's VP of Product Management) has also strengthened the March release date rumor. In response to a bug fix query by an HTC user, Versi said, "It'll be tied to Google's next MR, which is in March."
It's believed that the Android 5.1. Release will be tied to the "Maintenance Release" because if it was a 5.0-related update, they would've indicated it as such. Why the need for secrecy?
From the news circulating in the web, there's a high probability we could see the Android 5.1 update within a month.
Android Geek claims that the newest OS update will be pushed to the Nexus smartphone series beginning with the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9, in March. This will be followed by Nexus 4, 5, 7 and 10.

In related news, Verizon's Nexus 6 is said to be set for release next month as well, specifically March 12 and will come pre-loaded with the Android 5.1 Lollipop, reports Phandroid. It's also being reported that upon launch, the smartphone will come with "Enhanced 4G LTE Mode (Advanced Calling/ VoLTE).
