Now that production for “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” has already started in Queensland, Australia, the crew is exhausting all efforts on keeping things under wraps. A bunch of large shipping containers have been strategically arranged to hide the massive pirate ship from prying eyes, says Daily Mail.
Although the ship has not been completed yet, its foundation has already been built and two golden statues have already been mounted at the front of the ship. It featured a lot of ropes connecting the top of the sails to the bottom of the deck. It looks like the Black Pearl will be ready for Captain Jack Sparrow, played by Johnny Depp, in no time at all.
KPopStarz has reported that Depp is already in Australia to start filming his scenes soon. He was reportedly spotted in Brisbane attending a concert of the Foo Fighters, who started their Australian Tour on Tuesday at the Suncorp Stadium.
Although Depp had recently secretly married actress Amber Heard in the Caribbean, Heard was not his companion for the night. The 51-year-old Hollywood star was spotted in an Instagram photo with Gold Coast-based fishing crew, The Mad Hueys. “At the Foo Fighters concert. Ran into Johnny Depp. Had the Black Pearl parked in the valley!” they wrote.
Before the entire team flew to Australia, they were also eyeing Mexico to be the setting for “Pirates of the Caribbean 5.” However, it would appear that Australia beat Mexico for the rights to host the blockbuster, since the cast and crew are now heading Down Under, and the Australian Government is happy about it.
The Government said in a statement, via The Australian, that it is pleased to “have secured the high profile fifth installment in the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ franchise to film in Australia with a contribution of $21.6 million.”
Depp will soon be joined by Geoffrey Rush as Captain Hector Barbossa, Javier Bardem as the villain Captain Salazar, Kaya Scodelario of “The Maze Runner,” and Brenton Thwaites from “The Giver.”
Rumor has it that Orlando Bloom might be returning to the franchise to reprise his role as Will Turner, but it has not been set in stone yet. Movie Pilot says that there will be ghost pirates under the beck and call of Salazar, which is why Sparrow sets forth to find the Trident of Poseidon to be able to control them.
The news of the presence of the ghost pirates have further fueled rumors that Bloom will, indeed, be returning. He was the one who took control of the ghostly pirate ship, the Flying Dutchman, at the end of “Pirates of the Caribbean 3.”
“Pirates of the Caribbean 5” will be out in theaters in July of 2017.
