Sony Xperia Z3 Compact users have long been waiting for the Android Lollipop 5.0 update. However, no confirmed information have been revealed with respect to the update's release date – all they know is that the update will be coming “soon.”
Although it may be true that Sony already began rolling out the Android Lollipop 5.0 update, The Fuse Joplin mentioned that there is no particular pre-ordained order established in releasing the update for the smartphones under the Xperia Z series.
Still, the report mentioned that the Xperia Z3 Compact from Sony is regarded as one of the most efficient feature-filled Android smartphones in the mobile industry today.
According to Android Central, Michael Fasulo, the COO of Sony Electronics, confirmed during a Consumer Electronics Show 2015 press conference held last January that Sony’s Xperia Z3 series will be getting the Android Lollipop 5.0 update starting February.
Christian Examiner says that this much awaited update may be downloaded by numerous Sony devices such as “the Xperia ZR3, Xperia Z3v, Xperia Z3 Compact, Xperia Z3 Tablet Compact, Xperia ZL, Xperia Tablet Z, Xperia Z1, Xperia Z1S, Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Z1 Compact, Xperia Z3, and Xperia Z2 Tablet.”
If what the report says is true, then this is very good news for Sony Xperia users whose units were among the ones aforementioned. However, there is still no official release date as of the moment. Rumors will have to suffice, alluding to the possibility that the update is “just around the corner.”
Moreover, rumor has it that the update is nearly ready for Xperia Z3 and Z2 units. This speculation came out along with the leaked images showing that the testing process of the HTC One M8 was underway. However, it did not come with the news regarding the Sony Xperia Z3 Compact device.
According to a separate The Fuse Joplin article, the Xperia Z3 and the Xperia Z3 Compact were actually the first Sony Xperia Z units slated to get the Android Lollipop 5.0 update. Now that the update for the Z3 is reportedly nearing its completion, Z3 Compact users are hopeful that the latest Android update will be rolling out to their smartphone pretty soon.
They first expected it to come out by the end of January, but no news regarding its official release has been released. However, it is predicted by many that the first quarter of 2015 will not end without the latest Android Lollipop OS sent to all Xperia Z units.
