Microsoft continues to remain mum on the details and release of its highly-anticipated new device, the Surface Pro 4. While we don't have any confirmation from the tech giant, recently, Microsoft has slashed the price of the Surface Pro 3 indicating an upcoming next-generation tablet release.
There have been rumors circulating that the upgraded Pro 4 will come in two models, a trend we're seeing with companies now -- the first with the iPhone 6 and 6 Plus and now, the Samsung Galaxy S6 and its Edge variant.
Currently, the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 clocks in at 12-inches and Christian Today reports that Brian Hall, Microsoft's General Manager for the Surface line, hints at consistency for its upcoming devices.
Emphasizing a continuity with accessories, Hall explains that Microsoft recognizes the investment in the Pro line and they are ensuring management of such investments.
"We understand that for businesses to invest in Surface Pro 3, they need clarity on our commitment to hardware and accessories over time, so they can responsibly manage their investment choices. We have kept our roadmap plans close to the vest, as we needed to properly land new Surface products in a competitive market. But we've always said that we have a roadmap of products," he explained, as quoted by Microsoft Surface Blog.
Hall then adds, "Of course we'll have to wait and see about what those products may look like or when they might come to markets. But now that we have begun to establish our place in the market," he revealed that Surface Pro 3 accessories including covers, chargers, adapters and docking station will be compatible with the next generation of Surface Pro products.
Microsoft also recognizes that the Surface Pro line is one that may businesses and institutions trust. CEO Satya Nadelle is then quoted as saying, "Microsoft is putting its full and sustained support behind the ongoing Surface program as one of a number of great hardware choices for businesses large and small."
As reported earlier, the entire Surface Pro 3 line has been reduced in price by abut $100 and trade-in programs are being offered for those who want to avail of th newest Pro model in the market. Per sources, the estimated price of the Surface Pro 4, depending on the specs, could range between $799 to $1,549.
Now, while the Pro 4 may retain its existing size, there is nothing stopping the firm from launching a new sub-line for the Pro that could include a Surface Pro Mini.
The Microsoft Surface Pro 4 is expected to come pre-loaded with the new Windows 10 as well as Intel's newest Core M processor. The device is estimated to arrive in shelves sometime during the fall, following the launch of Windows 10.
