Home Decor 2015 Trends: Latin American Style In? Top 3 Reasons Why

According to ABC News, Latin American decorations are coming to our homes, and the number of people welcoming it into their haven is growing.

Designer Heidi Merrick's home in LA used bold colors like orange, pink and marine blue, as shown in the House&Home magazine. Even Ralph Lauren uses traditional florals as decor and some woven fabrics, added ABC News.

With the top designers leading the queue, Latin American-inspired themes could be the trend this 2015 and here are the top 3 reasons why:

Vibrant!

Latin American decors have always been known as vibrant. Like their songs and dance music, their art pieces are often exuberant and eye-catching. They can easily transform a simple living room and fill it with life. It's amazing what a painting or some brightly designed pieces can do!

For so many months of monochromatic winter where all everyone sees is the whiteness of snow outside -- even the verdant forests were almost covered with snow -- people badly need a color rehash in the house. A touch of bright color creates a magical reminder of how life can still be joyful and fun!

Idea: Add some Mexican plates or bowls in your dining room or some Guatemalan earthenware designed with daisies! A nice family dinner with great conversation is sure to follow as it will be hard to be gloomy with so many exuberant colors around!

Adaptable and Sustainable

Although, most Latin American designs we see have loud colors, there are also contemporary pieces that can easily match modern settings. Add a small Latin American intricately-designed wooden accent in your home office and it stands out perfectly but also blends with your minimalistic furniture. A little subtlety creates elegance for that modern look.

The materials used by many craftsmen are eco-friendly, luring a big market for this specific reason alone. There are many buyers in the market nowadays that are looking for environmental and sustainable products.

Katherine Ponte from New York, is an advocate of eco-friendly consumerism, notes ABC News. She even works with Brazilian craftsmen and market their products online at Ecostasy.

Awareness of world issues like climate change and depletion of resources is creating an impact and this translates to more people liking the materials used by many Latin American craftsmen.

Idea: Add some wooden ornaments, woven and textured rugs in your home and start being eco-friendly.

Aesthetic and Cultural

Much of its appeal are the aesthetic designs that truly capture the Latin American love and pride for their culture. For homeowners, Latin American-inspired decor creates a feeling of beeing connected to those who value their roots. It also give homeowners a feeling of warmth and humility with the thought of having actually welcomed a part of Latin American culture in their own homes.

These little pieces of furniture give our a home its own character. For example, Andre de Miranda's woodcuts give that aesthetic flare of modern art but with a heart and ceramics from Lilyan Benecke with some daisy designs from Norvica will no doubt impress.

Idea: Start adding some Latin-American decorative piceces in your house for a mix of fun, functional and cultural appeal.
