Despite having a busy schedule running errands and meeting deadlines, there is always one place where we can let our guard down, and that is our very own home. But let's admit it, there are times the house is not always the "peaceful sanctuary" we hope it would be, and that's because of major clutter.
Imagine having a whole toxic day at work and enduring hours of heavy traffic, only to be home with a messy living room, untidy bedroom, dishes piling up the kitchen, and don't get us started with the bathroom. Instead of switching your rest mode on, the stress level shoots up, and you end the night with a tired mind and body.
But no matter how much time and effort you spend cleaning the entire house, there will always be one area that seems impossible to keep together.
A recent survey shows that out of all the rooms in the house, people consider a specific place to be the messiest area where they spent most of the time cleaning. The US-based furniture retailer, Joybird, conducted the survey to know the different approach of people when it comes to organizing their homes. The company asked more than 1,900 people and found some pretty interesting result.
So what is the messiest place at home?
When we think about a messy place in the entire house, the kitchen would always come first in mind. After all, this is the area where all the cooking happens. But surprisingly, the survey shows a different result.
Most of the respondents said that the living room is the most consistently messy area in their homes. Out of all the participants, 22.2% said they spent most of the time cleaning the living room.
Our favorite kitchen (where the magic happens) comes really close on the second-most messiest area in the house, getting a total of 21.5%, while the bedroom comes at the third spot. When it comes to the source of household clutter, the respondents said that most of the clutter comes from the laundry, children's toys, food, dishes, and pantry items.
Living Room Cleaning Tips
The living room is one of the busiest places at home, so it is also easy to get messy. It is where families gather together and sometimes entertain guests; therefore, it deserves special attention.
Below are some cleaning tips to keep your living room squeaky clean and tidy:
- De-clutter - unleash your inner Marie Kondo and narrow down the stuff in the living area. Remember, this is the living room, not the storage area. So keep the important stuff that you need daily.
-
Wipe - wipe the dust on all surfaces, including be it visible or not. Better use some disinfecting spray to make sure the living room is safe from germs and viruses.
-
Sweep- vacuum not just the floor but also the sofa. You can also mop the floor to clean the sticky feel.
-
Air freshener - spray your favorite scent for some finishing touches. That way, the living room is pleasing to the eye and on the smell.
