Europe's digital village, the first of its kind in the country, will be located on a volcanic island that is known for its small size in the global map. Do take note that the digital village will be styled after a nomad village, so it won't be your typical European village that is just digitized. But why choose the said tiny island that is home to active volcanos?

A Nomad City That Is Located in a Tiny Volcanic Island
According to Euronews, the said digital nomad village will be located in Portugal, specifically on its tiny volcanic island named Madeira. It will be named "Digital Nomad Madeira" after its launch date of February 1, 2021. The main village on the volcanic island that will handle this digitization will be the village of Ponta do Sol.
Now, you might be wondering as to why such a project was placed in that kind of geographical location, or why it was even started in the first place. There is a specific aim for this digital nomad village and that is to attract as many digital nomads, who are basically remote workers that constantly travel due to their work.
Do take note that the digital nomad village will be positioned on the southern part of the island, and will provide the digital nomads that will avail of this program a free working space and free WiFi access daily, from 8 am to 10 pm. Those will be provided at the John do Passos Cultural Center and will provide access to a Slack community for those digital nomads to use. The Slack community tool is a workplace collaboration tool used mainly by professional & working individuals akin to Google Hangouts.
The said project is hosted by Madeira's Regional Government, which they have also developed. They were able to develop the project with the help of many digital nomad consultants and Startup Madeira (a network of business & innovation centers), wherein they are aiming to attract many digital nomads all around the world. The mentioned center above can hold up to 100 nomads per day. Although, they will have to greatly adjust that as 3,000 people have registered for this project.
