When you hear the word Hawaii, what comes first to your mind? The beaches and "aloha state of mind," right? But would you believe that the most sought after accommodation in the Hawaiian islands is not a beach house? Who needs a five-star hotel or a luxury front beach accommodation when you can peacefully lounge in a dreamy treehouse with a view of the ocean?

Travel + Leisure recently revealed that Hawaii's most wish-listed Airbnb space is not a penthouse, a beach house, or a luxury hotel room, but a jaw-dropping treehouse that looks straight out of a fictional story.

The little hideaway located in Kailua-Kona is a 500,000-square-foot property that boasts a real-life treehouse surrounded by greeneries and a picturesque view of the ocean. The small but incredible accommodation is built into a kukui nut tree and features a hand-crafted interior like the live tree trunks growing at the house's center.

For a $429 per night rate, travelers can experience a childhood dream turn into reality.

Home Amenities

The one-bedroom, one-bathroom treehouse is not the typical playhouse that you were dreaming of when you were a child. Based on the listing, the top Airbnb wishlist comes with a full kitchen with granite countertops, a custom floor-to-ceiling glass shower with mosaic tile floors, a washing machine, a solar-powered water system, WiFi, and a private hot tub.

Since the entire home sits 15 feet off the ground, each side of the house offers a great view of the lush surrounding with over 200 types of fruit trees. But the bedroom has the most eye-catching view, with the king-sized bed facing the outdoor terrace. It is perfect for watching the sunset over the ocean. The indoor-outdoor floor plan also allows guests to take in the fresh Hawaiian breeze.

Considering that it is surrounded by farmland, guests are free to take advantage of the fresh fruit, eggs, and farm chicken coop in the neighborhood.

The Hawaii treehouse also comes with complimentary ocean gears like snorkels, boogie boards, beach umbrellas, and beach towels that guests can use if they wish to have a day at the beach.

Dispite being in the middle of a seemingly remote area, the Airbnb space is only 15 minutes away from downtown Kona and ten minutes from Kona International Airport.

No Kids Allowed

"Your childhood dream of having a decked-out treehouse just came true!" the Airbnb listing reads.

But despite being a perfect childhood dream come true place, children are prohibited from the Hawaii treehouse as the house features are not suited for children's safety.

The listing noted: "Although we love welcoming our families with little ones to our other properties, this home is not suited for children."

If you are the many who added this Hawaii treehouse to your Airbnb wishlist, it is better to plan your trip as the place is almost fully booked for May. As of writing, the month with the most available vacancy is already for the month of June 2021.
