As the home-sharing site reopens, one of the most-searched types of short-term rentals in places that allow pets. Based on Airbnb's data, searches on the platform using the "allows pets" filter have increased by 65% since January 2021.
Interestingly, the pet-adoption also skyrocketed in the United Stated amid the COVID-19 health crisis. It looks like the growing number of pet owners would rather tag along with their fur babies as they plan their post-pandemic getaway instead of leaving them at home or in pet hotels.
Because of the pet-friendly accommodation trend, Airbnb collaborated with Australia-based veterinarian Dr. Kate Bruce to give travelers some tips in bringing pets during vacation.
If you are one of the fur-parents looking forward to spending time with your pets outside the home, below are the most wish-listed pet-friendly Airbnb accommodations around the world.
Cave House in Greece
For $444 per night, this cave house found in Oia, Greece, is a perfect place for you and your dog to chill out, get lazy, and get some vitamin D. The Cycladic house that accommodates at least four guests features two bedrooms and boasts a breathtaking view of the ocean. When taking your pets to high places like this, Dr. Bruce suggests ensuring your fur-babies are well-hydrated. She also advises bringing your own water bowls and consider giving them pet-safe sunscreen.
Treehouse in Italy
If you are looking for a place to make your childhood dreams come true, this Florence-based treehouse in Tuscany is perfect for those laid-back nights and lazy days under the pine tree with your pets.
Dr. Bruce said that this kind of place is good for your dogs' health.
"Dogs love visual stimulation just like people, and this elevated vantage point offers the perfect spot for your pup to watch nature go by," Dr. Bruce said.
The pet-friendly short-term rental with one bedroom can accommodate two guests plus pets for only $302 per night.
Underground House in Washington
This hobbit-inspired underground house in Washinton is the perfect pet-friendly accommodation for active pets and pet owners. The cozy Airbnb is surrounded by nature and local wildlife, including deer, rabbits, and birds. The charming one-bedroom earth house can accommodate at least two guests for $371 per night.
Gold Coast Villa in Australia
Dr. Bruce described this Queensland-based Airbnb home as a "pet-friendly paradise." The 10-acre property can accommodate at least ten guests for $316 per night. Aside from the massive vacation home, the short-term rental also features luxury amenities such as a private lap pool, a hot outdoor spa, and a picturesque view.
Besides your pets, you can also get a chance to pet horses residing within the property.
"If your family is after a slice of luxury among the hinterlands, this one could be for you. Just be careful with any silly puppies, though, as the neighboring horses and cattle could pose a risk to your pooch," Dr. Bruce said.
Waterfront Villa in Montenegro
Another most wish-listed pet-friendly Airbnb home is this waterfront villa in Kotor, Montenegro that could be your cozy dwelling for only $51 per night. The studio apartment boasts a spacious balcony with the perfect view of the Bay of Kotor and Lady of the rocks.
