Just in case you haven't noticed, people by nature love giving names to something they possess. Cars, boats, guitar, plants, and even their home appliances have cute names, which usually has interesting meaning behind it. So why not give a proper title to something that plays a huge role in your life? Your home.
Giving the house a name is a common practice in the United Kingdom; for centuries, manor houses and royal estates carry a unique name that identifies a family's modest residence. While grand estate, castles, and beach cottages are the type of properties that usually have names, nowadays, it is also lovely to give your humble abode a unique nickname, be it a studio, apartment, or townhouse.
Why Give Your House a Name?
Aside from giving the house identity and showcase the family's personality, a house name is also an excellent way to instantly boost your real estate resale value.
A 2011 survey conducted by property website Globrix found that one in 14 potential homebuyers is willing to pay more for a property because it has a name.
"Even those that were not prepared to pay more said their opinion of the property would improve, with 40 percent saying they would be more interested in viewing a property with a name," the study reads, as reported by The Telegraph.
College of William & Mary real estate professor Michael Seiler said that a house name implies a home's pride.
"One thing I tell people is, if you're selling your house, you want it to stick in people's minds somehow. If you name your house, people will have a much easier time referring to it and also remembering it. They'll remember it after seeing two dozen houses, and maybe that's the house that's going to get the offer," Seiler explained.
How to Give Your House a Name?
So if you want to give your property an additional resale value, aside from renovation, house name could be the key to flipping that real estate. The question now is, what would you call your beloved house?
While you can easily search for home name ideas on the internet, it is best to give it a personal touch. Here are some tips so you can finally baptize your house with a unique and personalized identity.

You can also associate your state's plant names (peartree, cherrywood, bluebell) or anything that rhymes with your original descriptor.

Use it as a hashtag during a home renovation or home improvement project and just any ordinary stuff you do at home.
