It seems that Apple is determined to top their current flagship phone with new updates on its upcoming smartphone device. According to a report from BGR, the Cupertino-based company would put an additional gigabyte of RAM to the upcoming iPhone 6S that would be released later this year. The additional RAM would bring the unit's RAM to 2GB that is expected to improve and make the usage of the phone a lot faster.
If these rumors prove to be true, the additional RAM would definitely give improvements with the way users utilize their devices. The operating system of the unit would have longer access life in terms of running apps in the background.
It would also allow iOS' browser, Safari, to refresh tabs on a much longer interval.
However, additional RAM would mean more toll on the device's battery life since it would use more power to run the system. No reports have been made whether Apple also intends to upgrade its battery system for the said unit.
It seems that adding an extra RAM is the next step for the company led by Tim Cook. In 2014, the iPad Air 2 debuted with 2GB of RAM on its chip processor.
Meanwhile, a rumored bold move from Apple could signify a change in the way users would be able to choose their network.
Some reports have said that the company is planning to come out with devices pre-installed with an Apple SIM. The SIM would allow users the option to choose which network carrier they would want to choose from the Settings of their device.
The option first arrived to Apple through its iPad Air 2, noted Apple Insider.
Previously, network companies were not keen on supporting the SIM card, with some accusing the company of "trying to gain control of their relationship with their mobile customers."
Though rumors of a pre-installed SIM abound, it remains to be seen if the company would push through with the plan with their smartphones, noted Mac Rumors.
In fact, Apple Vice President for iOS Products Marketing Greg Joswiak dismissed the idea when it was brought up last year.
"It's about customer experience. We ultimately don't know who you are going to use as the carrier and we want to make it as easy as possible," said Joswiak.
For now, the Apple SIM in iPhones remain to be rumors, which would be confirmed when the device comes out presumably in September, based on the iPhone launch history.
