Real estate agents, brokers, and realtors have different ways of promoting a house for sale. Some take advantage of social media, while others opt to go for traditional marketing of giving out flyers or posting signages near a property for sale.

Recently, a straightforward house for sale signage caught the attention and sparked social media users' curiosity.

Twitter user Margot Bloomstein, an "author, speaker, and content strategist" according to her profile, recently posted a bizarre house for sale signage that she spotted along an empty road.

The poster from Ponte Realty Group suggests that there is a nearby property for sale. It has all the necessary information, such as the word "for sale," the realtor's name, and contact number. But what caught the attention of Margot and other Twitter users is the bold message on top that says "NOT HAUNTED."

"This just went up around the corner, and I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS," Margot wrote.

"Does this force the hand of other realtors? If other for sale signs in the neighborhood don't add that rider, WHAT ARE THEY IMPLYING?" she said in a follow-up tweet.

According to inman.com, the said signage could be found in a house for sale in Fall River, a small Massachusetts city near Boston.

A few hours after posting, Margot's photo blew up on Twitter. As of writing, the post now has over 113,5000 likes and 12,200 retweets.

Twitter Reacts

Twitter users are quick to react to Margot's bizarre street sign find and share hilarious thoughts about the house claiming to be "not haunted."

"The name of the game is attention, and this realtor is winning!" one Twitter user wrote.

"Just waiting for the Haunted Yes/No? Filter on Zillow to pop up," another one added.

Apparently, Margot is not the only one who found such a mysterious sign on the house for sale. Other Twitter users also shared some real estate signage similar to what Margot shared.

"This was down the street from my office a few years ago," one user wrote alongside a for sale signage that says "might be haunted."

Another one shared a condominium for sale with all honesty that the unit is "haunted."

"Well, some places are 'Haunted,' and some are not. When buying property, it's always important to ask. Posting it on the sign saves some time later," the Twitter user said.

Haunted/Not Haunted Sign Trend

While this type of house for sale sign might be unusual for some, this honest declaration has actually been around the country for the past seven years already.

According to inman.com, the idea originated in New Orleans and was started by local real estate agent Finis Shelnutt. The realtor decided to use the city's obsession with ghosts and spirits, so he decided to incorporate such powerful words on a house he was selling back in 2014.

Shelnutt's creativity and effort paid off as signages like this are quick to go viral on social media sites like Twitter and Reddit. As a result, agents from far away states like Maryland, Oregon, and Massachusetts joined the trend in the hopes of being 100% transparent to potential buyers.
