'Metal Gear Solid 5' Release Date & Rumors: 'Phantom Pain' Coming in September? [Rumors]

Fans of the action-adventure video game, "Metal Gear Solid" would have another thing to be excited about. Word is out that the fifth installment of the popular Japanese game is coming out later this year and it promises not to disappoint gamers.

According to IGN, game developer Konami has revealed that gamers anticipating to get their hands on the "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" could expect it by September 1.

However, this release date is only for Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users. Those who would access the game through PC would be able to play it at a later date. MGS5 is set to be available on Steam by September 15.

Since September seems to be a long way from now, gamers who are itching to have a go with the "MGS5" could opt for a teaser taste of the "Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes" for now.

The short introduction to the full game is already available in PS 4 and PS 3, noted the PlayStation Blog.

Meanwhile, while this news is all so exciting to the game's fans, director Hideo Kojima, has stated that the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" is the last one in the saga.

In an interview, the Japanese developer noted that fans could finally expect the fifth installment to be the final one for the popular game, said IGN.

"I always say 'this will be my last Metal Gear' but the games in the series that I've personally designed and produced - Metal Gear on MSX, MG2, MGS1, 2,3,4, Peace Walker and now MGSV - are what constitute a single 'Metal Gear Saga," said Kojima.

He added, "With MGSV, I'm finally closing the loop on that saga."

The Japanese developer also noted, "In that sense, this will be the final 'Metal Gear Solid.' Even if the 'Metal Gear' franchise continues, this is the last 'Metal Gear.'"

Fans eager to play the game would be treated to an open world mode for the upcoming "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain," said Air Herald.

In the new installment, gamers would now have the freedom to choose their actions and make decisions for their characters in play. But in spite of these free options, Kojima noted that the game has been designed to make the decisions made by players still both "logical and allows for spontaneity."

The "Metal Gear Solid 5: Phantom Pain" is already available for pre-order. A new collector's edition has already been released with additional content.

Meanwhile, the "Metal Gear Solid 4: Ground Zeroes" is already available for $20.
