In addition to their careers in Hollywood, some celebrities are known for building massive wealth through investing in real estate. Some buy homes and flip them to make a big profit. Some rent out their properties.
The Celebrity Investments Index created a list of top celebrities with impressive real estate portfolios. Here are five who made the list.
Kylie Jenner
At the age of 21, Kylie became the world's youngest self-made billionaire, mostly due to her cosmetics brand Kylie Cosmetics. However, Kylie has also been investing in numerous real estate properties over the past years.
In 2017, she sold a Calabasas mansion for $3.15 million, which she bought for $2.5 million two years earlier. In the same year, she sold a house in Hidden Hills for $5.28 million. She bought the house for $4.5 million in 2016.
Leonardo DiCaprio
Leonardo owns a massive portfolio of multimillion-dollar real estate properties, including the Blackadore Caye, a 104-acre island off the coast of Belize that he bought for $1.75 million in 2015. He later commissioned architect Jason McLennon to design a 68-villa eco-resort on the island.
Ellen Degeneres
Popular talk show host Ellen has spent at least $145 million buying properties to flip and sell. In 2017, for instance, the "Finding Dory" star bought an estate in California for $7.2 million. Ellen sold it half a year later for a whopping $11 million.
In 2014, Ellen also bought a $2 million horse ranch that was sold for $15 million on the same year.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé
Hollywood's power couple have real estate portfolios spanning the continent-from the Hamptons on the East Coast to Los Angeles on the West Coast. Their properties include an $88 million 30,000-square-foot palace in Bel Air and a $26 million seven-bedroom mansion in East Hampton.
