Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta Platforms Inc. (formerly known as Facebook), in 2018 bought an estate in Lake Tahoe, California, that spread over 10 acres for $59 million.

The estate, which consists of 15 bedrooms, was bought in several separate transactions. Zuckerberg acquired the first part of his estate in December 2018 when he bought the $22 million Carousel Estate. The estate was built in the 1930s and spans three acres. At the time, the Carousel Estate was listed on the market for $25 million, as reported by the Reno Gazette-Journal.

Zuckerberg expanded his estate a month later after acquiring the Brushwood property next door for $37 million. The neighboring Brushwood estate spans about six acres at 2360 Sunnyside. At the time, it was on the market for $45 million, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Originally constructed in 1964, the Brushwood estate encompasses over 7,000 square feet of living space for the main mansion, which has six bedrooms. The property also features a private dock and two other guesthouses, which increases the living space by 4,000 square feet.

The Brushwood Estate is best known for being the venue of the League to Save Lake Tahoe's annual Oscar de la Renta fashion show lunch.

The Carousel Estate, on the other hand, spans three-and-a-half acres and features a seven-bedroom main house and a marina-style pier designed to be able to support a large yacht, per Architectural Digest.

Zuckerberg's Other Real Estate Properties

As of February 2022, Zuckerberg owned 10 homes situated throughout California, including Lake Tahoe, Palo Alto, and San Francisco. The Meta CEO also owned several holdings on Kauai, Hawaii.

One of Zuckerberg's first high-profile real estate purchases was his Palo Alto estate. He initially bought a 5,600-square-foot property for $7 million in 2011 and later bought the full 1.83 acres of land for $50.8 million. The main mansion in Palo Alto encompasses 20,000 square feet, with 15 bedrooms and 16 bathrooms, according to Haven Lifestyles.

Over the years, Zuckerberg nabbed several other properties, including a $200 million estate in Kauai, which spaces 1,400 acres; and an $11 million estate in Dolores Heights, which spans 0,22 acres and features 23 rooms.
