Disneyland is gearing up to add two new retail shops inspired by 2009's animated film "The Princess and the Frog."
Officials for Disneyland on Monday announced they were temporarily closing the Critter County area to add two new retail shops inspired by Walt Disney's "The Princess and the Frog." In the announcement, the official said Briar Patch and the left-hand side of Pooh Corner will be reimagined into Ray's Berets and Louis' Critter Club, respectively.
"Add another stop to your trip down to the bayou because two reimagined retail stores inspired by Walt Disney Animation Studios' 'The Princess and the Frog' are coming to Disneyland Resort," the Disney Park Blog said.
"The reimagined merchandise locations coming to Critter Country in Disneyland park will include Ray's Berets and Louis' Critter Club. Their stories will further immerse you into Princess Tiana's story, along with the opening of the attraction, Tiana's Bayou Adventure, later this year," the blog continued.
What Will the New Shops Sell?
Ray's Berets and Louis' Critter Club will be selling a range of merchandise. Ray's Berets will be selling headwear, apparel, accessories, and toys inspired by firefly Raymond and his "firefly kin." On the other hand, Louis' Critter Club will be selling apparel, accessories, and home decor inspired by Princess Tiana and the story's other critters.
Despite reimagining the left-hand side of Pooh Corner-which sells treats-Disneyland officials noted that the store will continue to sell sweets including Hundred Acre Wood and Tigger tails.
The Critter Country area will temporarily close beginning May 1, 2024 to make way for the new shops.
The new shops come as the theme park's crews work on Tiana's Bayou Adventure, a reimagined Splash Mountain. The ride is slated to open later this year in Florida and is expected to pick up where the 2008 animated feature left off.
Disneyland is also set to open Tiana's Palace, a nod to the restaurant the character fought to open throughout the film.
Apart from "The Princess and the Frog" themed shops and rides, Disney officials teased plans to add another Avatar-based land to Disneyland Resort. No public details have been disclosed.
