Judy Garland's sprawling home in Bel Air, California, is now up for sale for a whopping $11.49 million.
The former Garland estate has not been listed on the market since 2012, when current owners Allen and Jill Chozen bought the property for $6.7 million, according to Robb Report. The listing is held by Josh Flagg of Compass.
Before 2012, the property was rented to both Quincy Jones and the late Marvin Gaye. It was also previously owned by Los Angeles Times heiress Stephanie Booth Murray, who bought the property for $5.2 million.
History Behind Garland's Bel Air Mansion
In 1938, Garland-who at the time was 16 years old-commissioned master architect Wallace Neff to build the Bel Air property. It was the same year Garland was cast as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, which catapulted her to stardom.
"Like the studio art directors of the thirties and forties, Garland identified that platonic ideal not with the sun-drenched houses she saw around her in California but rather with the Christmas card images of New England where, as everyone who had ever been to the movies knew, there was always snow on the ground for the holidays and, inside, happy families drank hot chocolate around a fire," the Architectural Digest wrote of Garland's home in 1992.
Garland only stayed at her Bel Air mansion for three years, moving out on the heels of her first marriage. The property has since had many famous residents and has undergone multiple renovations and updates.
Today, the property sits on a 2.6-acre land with a 5,500-square-foot main house featuring five bedrooms and seven baths. The property boasts an entry foyer with a curving iron-railed staircase, a formal dining room with a vintage chandelier, and a living room with a black marble fireplace. The property also has a kitchen with an eat-in island, a breakfast nook that opens to a patio, and high-end stainless appliances.
Additionally, the property features an office, a library, a sunroom and wet bar, two walk-in closets, and a luxe bath with dual vanities and a soaking tub.
Outside, the Bel Air mansion features a badminton court, tennis court, a pond, a kidney-shaped pool with a diving board, a pool house, a two-car garage, and a writer's cabin.
