'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Cast, Plot & Release Date: Al Pacino To Join Marvel Movie Sequel as Star-Lord’s Father? [Rumors]

It has been barely a year since Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy" hit the big screen and fans are already in great anticipation of its sequel. With the hype already beginning, the men behind the upcoming sequel of the hit movie are determined to make it bigger than the first and it seems that they intend to do that with bringing in a top actor in addition to the original cast.

A report in Master Herald has taken note of a rumor that has been circulating about a new cast member to join the sequel of "Guardians of the Galaxy." Some reports have said that "The Godfather" actor, Al Pacino is headed to join Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana and Bradley Cooper in the second film of the franchise.

The rumors began when Pacino confirmed that he has met with Kevin Feige of Marvel Studios in Dec. 2014.

According to Time, the 74-year old was a guest in a radio show when he revealed that he talked with Feige for a possible project.

"I've met with the Marvel guy. It's a marvel how things happen," said the actor. "I would imagine that either there's something he feels is right for me," he added as his sentence was interrupted then with a call.

Marvel has not made any comment or announcement regarding Pacino's statement since then. However, speculations on his possible appearance on the sequel remained strong.

On March 1, "Guardians of the Galaxy" director James Gunn made answered a tweet made by a fan that turned the Internet abuzz with rumors.

Gunn posted a reply that he would be bringing his favorite superhero in the second film.

Fans thought Gunn was referring to Pacino and many came up with a possible role for him.

According to Christian Post, some fans believe Pacino would be at the sequel and would star as Star Lord's biological father, a character that was only mentioned but not seen in the first film.

Before Pacino met with Feige, he became interested with the film when he took his children to watch it.

"I recognized the ingenious stuff they were doing; the invention, the attractiveness of the way they were performing it. It had Shakespearian feeling to it at times," said the "Scarface" actor.

He added, "I was caught up in the big screen, the great sound."

This led him to desire to become involved in the movie in whatever role he can.

However, all these hang in the air and remain to be seen in the upcoming film that would hit theaters in 2017.
