LeBron 12 ‘Cereal’ Release Date, Price & Where to Buy?

It would appear that Nike will be appealing to its younger fan base with its LeBron 12 “Cereal.” LeBron James’s 12th signature shoe collection was inspired by the basketball icon’s favorite snack, “Fruity Pebbles,” according to Sporting News.

It will be out in selected Nike retail stores nationwide on March 11, and will be sold with a price tag of as high as $160. Since it features a color way that is very attractive to youngsters, Nike has also come up with smaller sizes for children. GS sizes will be sold at $160, PS sizes at $90, and TD sizes at $60.

Adults who want to get their hands on this design to add to their collection are, apparently, out of luck. Nike Basketball announced via their official Twitter page that this particular style will only be available in kid sizes.

The shoe features a repetitive pattern of multi-color speckles, comprised of seven different colors that depict the “Fruity Pebbles” vibe. The heel has a black/gray knit that forms the upper portion of the shoe, as described by Hypebeast. There is a green heel tab that complements the design’s look, as well as an inner sock lining. The orange laces make the multitude of colors pop out even more.

This is actually not the first time the mega shoe maker drew inspiration from The King’s childhood life. Nike has actually also made a pretty similar pattern for his Zoom LeBron 4, which, in turn, is still one of his most famous shoe collections to date. Typically, the design quickly sold out, particularly since only 100 pairs were made for purchase. James even wore this special edition during the Dec. 1, 2006 game against the Atlanta Hawks, Sporting News revealed.

So, will LeBron 12 “Cereal” be as successful as Zoom Lebron 4, especially with its pretty hefty price of $160? Sneaker News is confident that they probably will not stay on shelves for very long. Bleacher Report seems to agree, saying that the collection will be out with a matching cap and T-shirt.

But Social media users are not quite happy about the LeBron 12 “Cereal.” Many were quick to comment and show their dismay about this latest design.

“Shouldn’t the majority of the shoe be white – like milk? Ain’t nobody eating their ‘Fruity Pebbles’ with black asphalt,” wrote one fan via Hypebeast. “I feel like even kids wouldn’t like these colors,” said another.

Some fans have even poked fun at the basketball legend who inspired the look, and compared him to the cereal-themed shoe design. “LeBron’s hairline looks like a ‘Fruit Loop,’” said one fan, also via Hypebeast.
