The iconic house from the 1990 classic film "Home Alone" has hit the market with a price tag of $5.25 million.
The redbrick Georgian home, located at 671 Lincoln Avenue, features four fireplaces, five bedrooms, six bathrooms, and an indoor and outdoor hot tub. It also features a gas fireplace, a state-of-the-art indoor sports court, double islands, an integrated sub-zero fridge, and an expansive patio area.
Furthermore, the property features two laundry rooms---one on the first floor and another on the second---a mudroom with cubbies and storage, a three-car attached heated garage, and a private parking bay, according to its Zillow listing.
The listing is being held by real estate team Dawn McKenna Group.
"It' a chance to own a piece of cinematic history," the Dawn McKenna Group told CNN, adding that it's a "rare opportunity to own one of the most iconic movie residences in American pop culture."
The House's History
Located in the suburb of Winnetka, Illinois, the 9.126-square-foot property was built in 1921. It later became the residence of 8-year-old Kevin McCallister, played by Macaulay Culkin, in the classic Christmas film "Home Alone."
The film crew worked at the house for four months in 1990, building an exterior staircase where a burglar, played by Daniel Stern, slipped down. While much of Home Alone was shot on a soundstage, the movie features shots of the property's exterior as well as the living room and the foyer's grand staircase. At the time, the property was owned by the Abendshien family.
"I couldn't imagine it being a big hit," John Abendshied said in an interview with Vanity Fair. "But my wife thought it was very clever and would be a really good movie. She was right, of course."
In addition to being featured in Home Alone, the Winnetka property was also featured in the September 1974 issue of Better Homes & Gardens.
In 2021, fans of Home Alone were given the opportunity to rent the house for one night for $25. Devin Ratray, the actor who played Kevin's brother Buzz, welcomed guests into the house. Prospective visitors were also allowed to feast on Chicago pizza and Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.
