Katy Perry and fiancé Orlando Bloom's legal battle over a disputed property has taken another turn as a significant water leak was discovered in the home they fought to purchase. The 39-year-old pop star and her partner, 47, recently won the first phase of a court case against Carl Westcott, 85, who sued to reverse the sale of his property, claiming he was not in a fit state to sign the deal due to medication following back surgery.
Westcott, who filed the lawsuit in August 2020, argued that he attempted to cancel the sale just days after signing the contract, but Perry's team refused. In November 2023, a judge ruled in favor of Perry, stating Westcott "presented no persuasive evidence that he lacked capacity to enter into a real estate contract." As a result, the singer was awarded the home.

However, the dispute is not yet over. The second phase of the trial, which will determine the damages Westcott must pay, has been delayed. This week, Westcott requested the postponement, citing a new problem with the house. According to his lawyer, during a pre-agreed inspection earlier this year, Westcott's house manager discovered a severe water leak that occurred within the prior 24 to 48 hours. The leak resulted in several feet of water in the house, significantly expanding the scope of needed repairs.
"Upon opening the door, it was discovered that during the last 24 to 48 hours, a significant water leak in the house (feet of water, not inches) had occurred," Westcott's lawyer said in his motion, according to RadarOnline. He further explained that the damage affected the title transfer process and added to the complications surrounding the sale.
The judge has yet to rule on Westcott's request for a delay, leaving the fate of the property and the final phase of the trial uncertain. As Perry deals with the fallout from both her legal battles and personal challenges, the outcome of this ongoing dispute will determine whether the home she fought for will become the dream property she envisioned.
