California is now home to seven of the most expensive ZIP codes in the United States, according to a new report.
Real estate data firm PropertyShark conducted a study of the US real estate market with the aim of determining which zip codes are the most expensive in the country this year. To be specific, the team examined year-to-date closed residential sales, which means the prices reflect expectations from sellers.
The 10 most expensive zip codes had homes with median sale prices of at least $4 million. Of those zip codes, seven are located in California, the report noted.
Which CA Zip Code Has the Most Expensive Homes?
Topping the list was Atherton in San Mateo County, with the zip code 94027. Atherton has held the top spot for the eighth year in a row.
Median home prices in the zip code are at $7.9 million, based on sellers' expectations. For perspective, the median home sale price based on market trends was $5,612,500, per Redfin.
That said, the price of homes in Atherton fell by 5% or roughly $400,000 this year from 2023.
Other CA zip codes with the most expensive homes include Santa Barbara County (93108); Newport Beach (92661, 92657, and 92662); Rancho Santa Fe (92067); and Santa Monica (90402).
