A few weeks since pop singer Lady Gaga announced her casting for the upcoming fifth season of "American Horror Story", numerous speculations have risen on what it would be about.
As it was already insinuated by Gaga that the next season is entitled "AHS: Hotel", numerous rumors on which hotel it would be about have circulated.
Reports have come out that the fifth season would be based on an actual real-life hotel and the mysterious activities that happened inside it, said Christian Post.
According to the site, one possible inspiration is the Cecil Hotel located in Los Angeles. The hotel is notorious for its history of numerous accidents and crimes.
An incident in January 2013 where a dead body was found inside the water tank of the hotel could be a good plot for the series, noted the website.
The 21-year-old Elise Lam drowned inside the hotel's water tank but the eerie thing about the whole thing was that upon review of the surveillance camera, Lam seemed to have experienced a "haunting" incident while inside the hotel elevator.
Aside from Lam's mysterious death, the hotel was also home to a few serial killers.
According to CNN, Richard "Nightstalker" Ramirez once stayed at the hotel's top floor. He was followed by former journalist Jack Unterweger, who killed three prostitutes during his stay there.
The Cecil Hotel was also a place where a lot of suicides took place in the 1950s and 1960s. This, including the bizarre deaths, seemed to be a good plot for the upcoming fifth season of the hit horror anthology.
Perhaps what seemed to be the clincher in the Cecil Hotel theory is the fact that Elizabeth Short or Black Dahlia as the media dubbed her, was last spotted at the said hotel before her gruesome murder in 1947.
Short's character was portrayed by Mena Suvari in an episode of the series' first season, noted Bloody Disgusting. Her character met with a "doctor" in the basement of the hotel to give her a "new smile."
Another theory thrown by GameNGuide is the possibility of satanic worshippers staying in the hotel. This issue instilled fear in the hearts of Americans in the 1980s and would be a good idea to explore in the upcoming season.
It has been confirmed that Lady Gaga would appear as a regular in the "AHS: Hotel", although no details of her role had been announced yet.
Evan Peters might also return to the series, noted KPopStarz.
"American Horror Story: Hotel" would premier in October 2015.
