Fans waiting for the second installment of the film "Prometheus" would be delighted to learn that it is slated for release in the first quarter of 2016. While not much has been released about the plot of the sequel, it seems that the men behind the film intends "Prometheus 2" to have a deep connection with the upcoming fifth "Aliens" movie.
It was speculated that "Prometheus" was a sequel to the 1979 film "Aliens" as it featured the alien specimen, xenomorphs, that were first introduced in the 1970s science fiction film.
Add to that the fact that Ridley Scott, who directed "Prometheus", was also the man behind the 1970s film that featured Sigourney Weaver.
According to Master Herald, Scott is once again set to delve into the "Aliens" atmosphere with the fifth movie of the franchise. The director would produce for 20th Century Fox "Aliens 5," which would be helmed by Neil Blomkamp.
With his hand in both movies, it comes as no surprise to fans of the films to see the connection of the two stories and to speculate that "Prometheus 2" would pave the way for the story of "Aliens 5."
However, Scott was quick to dispel talks that the xenomorphs from both the first film and "Aliens" movie would once again take the center stage in "Prometheus 2".
A report in Youth Health Mag said that the director revealed that a new creature would debut in the sequel.
"The alien's real, which is why it's probably one of the scariest monsters in film history. So with Prometheus 2, what I'm trying to do is reintroduce a fresher form of alien in the third act," said Scott.
While the sequel would veer away from the infamous creature, the fifth installment of "Aliens" would explore the monster and even put it once again on center stage.
Although their universe may seem connected, "Aliens 5" would have a timeline set after the events of "Prometheus 2".
While reports said that no final script has been approved for the sequel yet, director Scott already has a plan in mind on how the story would evolve.
According to Crossmap, the upcoming film is said to continue the story of Elizabeth Shaw, portrayed by Noomi Rapace, and the Android David, played by Michael Fassbender. Shaw is on a quest to find the creators after the planet was destroyed.
Rumors have circulated that David's character would prove "dangerous" in the next film, which has prompted fans to think that he may be the main antagonist in the sequel.
"Prometheus 2" would hit theaters in 2016.
