House For Sale, Free Wife

There's a house for sale in Indonesia and it comes with a free wife. Yes, you saw what you saw. It's not a typographical error.

The actual advertisement posted at Ruhahdijual.com says, "Buy at the asking price and take the owner as your wife (Terms and Conditions Apply), according to Independent. This unique advertisement pertains to the house owned by a 40-year-old widow and beauty salon proprietor, Wina Lia, in Indonesia. Wina is a widow since 2001 and has two children, the International Business Times reports.

This ad for a two-bedroom, two bathroom house in Sleman District says it's "The bid of the century," notes the Jakarta Post. It may actually be the case, because as soon as it was posted, Wina's ad became viral and spread like wildfire in various social media.

Her house's ad even caught the attention of the police. Wina found herself talking to a concerned police officer who came to her home and check what's going on. According to the International Business Times, the police wanted to know if the advertisement is true because for the officer, it was "an improper form of advertisement." She confirmed and verified the unusual ad, telling him it was actually the idea of her real estate agent and friend, Dian Purna Dirgantara. Although it did not come from her, she good-naturedly agreed for it to be used as the tag line.

The advert produced "dozens or even hundreds of inquiries, " said Dian, as quoted by International Business Times. However, he added, "They may buy the house but they have also no obligation to marry Wina."

According to the Huffington Post, even with the free wife offer, Lia's house that sells for 999M Indonesian Rupiah, roughly equivalent to $75,700 is a good buy. Aside from having two bedrooms, it also rests on one-sixth of an acre land. Its features include granite flooring and a fish pond. The single-storey house also includes a garage and a large garden at the back, Independent adds.

Before making an offer, one of her negotiable conditions says, "the buyer must be a devout Muslim who can be an imam for her family and can teach her how to properly wear a hijab", the Jakarta Post notes.

Wina has the right to make such conditions and must be careful in choosing the buyer. As Huffington Post puts it, "given the stakes for Wina, we wouldn't be too surprised if she proved more picky than most homeowners about who she sells to. "
