Fans awaiting the arrival of "Mortal Kombat X" would have a new thing to be excited about. News have circulated that a classic character is making a comeback as a playable character in the video game to add more choices to its cast gallery.
According to VG 247, the characters of Johnny Cage and Mileena were added to the roster. The announcement was confirmed by online shopping site, Amazon, when it added the names and images of Johnny Cage and Mileena on its list of characters.
Johnny Cage and Mileena were only rumored to be part of the upcoming video game but with their addition to the retail listing of Amazon, there is now no doubt that both would be playable characters in "Mortal Kombat X."
For fans of the franchise, Cage is not a new character as he was first introduced in the first ever "Mortal Kombat" video game in 1992, noted Christian Post.
However, this would be the first time for him to appear as a playable character alongside his daughter, Cassie Cage.
The character of Johnny Cage is among the top names fans of the franchise have been looking forward to as he is known to provide the comic relief in the story. Cage's character and looks were inspired by real life martial arts actor Jean Claude Van Damme.
"You'll get to play as Johnny Cage, but we're also showing Cassie Cage who is the daughter of Sonya Blade and Johnny," said NetherRealm Studio senior producer Adam Urbano in a previous interview.
This is the first installment of "Mortal Kombat" that would feature old character favorites along with their children. Aside from Johnny and Cassie Cage, it was reported by Cinema Blend that Jackson Briggs or Jax would also join the roster of playable characters alongside his daughter Jacqueline Briggs.
Takashi Takeda, son of Kenshi, would also appear in the upcoming game with his father Kenshi, who was a recent confirmed addition to the gallery of players.
While not many details are known regarding how the story would proceed from the last "Mortal Kombat" video game, it is rumored that the tenth installment would continue the story 25 years after the events of the last game in 2011.
Other confirmed characters are D'Vorah, Goro, Scorpion, Kung Lao, Kotal Khan, Kitana, Kano, Reptile, and Sub-Zero.
"Mortal Kombat X" would arrive to game consoles and PC on April 14, 2015, reported Game Spot.
