Ever since "Tekken 7" came out in the arcades in Japan in Feb. 2015, there has been intense clamor for developers to bring it to consoles. Now, it seems that the cry of the public has been heard as reports circulated that the latest installment of the popular video game franchise is hitting current-generation game consoles soon.
According to Christian Today, rumors of the video game arriving to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 came about when a trailer of the game was shown as part of the Unreal Engine 4 at the Game Developers Conference.
Unreal Engine 4 is a set of game development tools that developers and game producers could use to bring life to their video games. It works for 2D up to high-definition video modes to allow anyone to take advantage of its features, it said on its website.
"Tekken 7" was among the video games showed as part of the Epic Games' new technology to be converted for game consoles, said Venture Capital Post.
With a lot of gamers turning to handheld devices and their game consoles at the comfort of their homes, putting up a video game exclusively for arcade purposes might not be the best idea.
Even the classic "Street Fighter" and "Mortal Kombat" games have sailed with the changing times and developed versions playable in game consoles.
While handheld devices are the next step for Bandai Namco, the developers who brought "Tekken," it remains to be seen if it would be available in multiple platforms. Some reports noted that "Tekken 7" is a sure thing to current generation consoles.
Meanwhile, other news claim that it would be made accessible to old generation game devices such as Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3 in an effort to reach more players.
No announcement was made if the developers would also consider bringing "Tekken 7" in the PC.
For those who want to a first glimpse of "Tekken 7," the video game was confirmed to be part of the lineup for The Evolution Championship Series (EVO 2015) in Las Vegas this July, noted the EVO website.
Previous EVOs maintained the use of arcade cabinets in its competition. When it decided to transition to game consoles in 2004, it was then that "Tekken," which was an arcade-exclusive, had to say goodbye as part of the competition's lineup, said IGN.
This year, "Tekken 7" would return to action in the EVO 2015 as a console video game which would mark its first time away from the arcade cabinet.
