'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' PS4 Release Date Delay To Give Way to a Movie in 2016? [Rumors]

Fans of the video game, "Uncharted," would have to wait a long time before they could get their hands on the latest installment to play Nathan Drake. Word is out that Sony decided to delay the release of "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" to 2016.

Sony made the announcement via a post in the PlayStation Blog. In the article, they noted the difficulty they had in making the decision to postpone its 2015 release and mentioned the reason behind its delay.

In the post, "Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" directors Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann noted that they do not "take lightly" their craft, which is why the video game had to be delayed.

"This game deserves every bit of the attention to detail, precise pacing, and nuanced storytelling Naught Dog is known for," wrote the post. Adding, "So we've made the difficult choice of pushing the game's release date."

The developers behind the game promised the wait would be worth it and continued, "Giving us a few extra months will make certain that 'Uncharted 4: A Thief's End' not only meets the team's high standards, but the high standards that gamers have come to expect from a Naughty Dog title."

The post ended with a note acknowledging fans' "patience" in enduring the wait.

It seems that the team in Naughty Dog is determined to ensure that the game would be polished and flawless to live up to expectations after a cinematic trailer was released early this year.

Meanwhile, rumors circulated that the real reason the game's release was pushed back is because the developers wanted to give way for the upcoming film of Sony Pictures based on the franchise.

According to Variety, doing so would be a great marketing strategy for the film movie slated for international release on June 10, 2016.

PlayStation Lifestyle reported in 2014 that filming for the movie would begin in 2015. However, no reports were made on who would be part of the cast except that Seth Gordon would be the one to helm the film.

"Uncharted 4: A Thief's End" continues the story of Nathan Drake three years after the last installment came out. Drake was already in retirement but would be forced to come out and hunt for a pirate colony that has been lost for centuries, noted Master Herald.

The upcoming video game would not only feature graphics that were never before seen in any of the "Uncharted" games but will also reportedly be the last installment of the franchise, which is probably the reason Naughty Dog is working hard to get everything right and perfect for its release.
